A letter from our founder sharing how God has used the ordinary to do the extraordinary over the past 10 years.

Friend of Zoe,
Ten years ago this week, just a few days after graduating college, I boarded a plane to Kenya with no real roadmap for what God was about to do.
At 23 years old, I simply said yes to an opportunity to serve in Kenya for 6 months. I never imagined how impactful my time would be.
Back then, there was no vision on paper. No organization. No team. No fundraising dinners. Just relationships, prayer, and a growing burden for vulnerable children and communities where my feet were planted.

Over the last 10 years I’ve watched God do more than I could have ever imagined.
What started with a few relationships has grown into Zoe Ministries. Today we get to serve children and families across Kenya through orphan care, clean water, women empowerment, and pastoral training. Our team has grown to over 60 staff members across Kenya and the US help carry out this mission every single day.
But honestly, what impacts me most isn’t the growth. It’s the people.
It’s children who are now thriving in families. Communities that have clean water flowing. Teen moms discovering purpose and opportunity. Men being discipled and trained. Staff members like Paul, Charles, and Keith who have been by my side since the very beginning.

Later this month, Katie and I will take our boys back to Kenya with us. As parents, it feels incredibly important that our children don’t just hear us talk about this work, but that they see it firsthand from a young age. We want them to know the people, experience the joy, witness the challenges, and understand why this mission matters so deeply to our family.
We’re excited for them to meet the people and communities that have helped shape our lives over the last decade.
Ten years later, I’m more convinced than ever that God uses ordinary people and ordinary yeses to do extraordinary things. I genuinely mean that.
Thank you for being part of this story with us. Whether you’ve prayed, given, traveled, encouraged, or simply followed along over the years – THANK YOU. Zoe would not exist without people willing to believe in what God can do through simple obedience.
I still can’t believe I get to be part of this story.

“Beadwork has given me hope. I now wake up with something to long for and it has allowed me to provide for my children.”

“Farming has brought a big difference in my life. Last year, I didn’t farm because I didn’t have the proper knowledge. This year, my children and I have food.”

“Clean water has created a platform for me to reach unreached communities with the good news of Christ.”
